Waterfront Park
at the corner of Vendue Range
and East Bay Street features great views, bench
swings, shaded picnic areas, and the pineapple
fountain to cool off in. Bring bread to feed the
Seagulls and Squirrels!
Plantation Playground
in the Gahagan Ball
Field area in Summerville is a fenced in playground
with picnic tables and restroom facilities.
Seewee Visitor and Environmental Center
off
of 17 North about 9 miles north of Mt. Pleasant is a
great place to spend some time! The exhibit hall
shows how animals live in the surrounding
eco-system. Take a short walk on the boardwalk which
leads to the Red Wolf exhibit where you can view Red
Wolves in their natural habitat. There are covered
picnic areas and extended hiking trails. Bring
tackle and bait and fish in the pond. Two Sundays a
month, see eagles, hawks, and owls. Open Tuesday–
Sunday, 9am—5 pm. Call 928-3368.
The Charleston Farmer’s Market
at Marion
Square is open March 26– December 18, every
Saturday, 8 am—1 pm. Live music and occasional
activities especially for children. Bring a picnic
and a Frisbee and make it a day!
The Charleston Model Railway Association
has
open house every Tuesday and Thursday from 7-9 pm.

Free Craft Classes
at Lowes and Home Depot on
select Saturday mornings. Projects such as bird
houses and wooden vehicles geared toward 2nd—5th
graders. Call your nearest Lowes or Home Depot for
dates and times.
